Understanding V-points: How They're Calculated and Consumed in Vocol

In part 4 of this tutorial series, we will walk you through the intricacies of how V-points are calculated and consumed, ensuring you maximize your productivity while using Vocol's powerful features.

Understanding V-points: How They're Calculated and Consumed in Vocol

V-points are the lifeblood of your Vocol.ai experience, enabling you to transcribe, analyze, and make the most of your conversations. In this article, we will walk you through the intricacies of how V-points are calculated and consumed, ensuring you maximize your productivity while using Vocol's powerful features.

How V-points are Calculated

Transcription Usage

V-points are primarily consumed during the transcription process. The calculation is simple:

1 V-point will be used per spoken minute, and 0.5 V-point will be used when the duration is less than 30 seconds. This straightforward approach ensures that you're only charged for the actual content being transcribed.

Scenario 1: Imagine you have a team meeting lasting 45 minutes. The transcription will consume 45 V-points.

Scenario 2: If you're transcribing an interview spanning 25 minutes and 20 seconds, the calculation would result in 25.5 V-points.

Analysis and Features Usage

Beyond transcription, Vocol offers a range of features like AI power analysis and translation. These features also consume V-points, but the calculation isn't solely based on time. For such usage, the calculation is as follows:

1 V-point will be used to perform the AI power analysis of every 10-minute segment, and 0.5 V-point will be used when the duration is less than 5 minutes.  Any segment that is longer than 5 minutes will consume 1 V-point.

Scenario 3: Let's say you're analyzing a 30-minute focus group discussion. The initial transcription would consume 30 V-points. If you choose to run AI power analysis at the same time, another 3 V-points will be consumed for this post-transcription analysis.

1 V-point will be used to translate every 10-minute segment of the transcript, and 0.5 V-point will be used when the duration is less than 5 minutes. Any segment that is longer than 5 minutes will consume 1 V-point.

Scenario 4: You're working on a project that requires translating a 18-minute client call. The transcription itself costs 18 V-points, and the translation consumes an extra 2 V-points.

Here are more complex scenarios to help you better understand how V-points are calculated and consumed.

Scenario 5:

You upload a media file of 10 minutes and 25 seconds to the media library, and opt to run AI power analysis at the same time. The V-points consumed by this operation are calculated as follows:

10.5 V-points are used for the transcription

1.5 V-points are used for AI power analysis

The total V-points consumed: 10.5 + 1.5 = 12 V-points

Scenario 6:

You upload a media file of 27 minutes and 45 seconds to the media library, and opt to transcribe without running AI power analysis at the same time. After the transcription is done, you translated the text into two different languages. The V-points consumed by this operation are calculated as follows:

28 V-Points are used for the transcription

0 V-point is used for AI power analysis

6 V-points are used for translations

The total V-points consumed: 28 + 0 + 6 = 34 V-points

Monitoring and Managing Your V-points

Your V-points balance is conveniently displayed in the blue box on the left navigation. As you use the platform's various features, your consumption is automatically tracked. This real-time tracking ensures you have full visibility into how many V-points you have remaining.

If your V-points balance is running low, Vocol will give you a heads-up so you can plan accordingly and top up your balance if needed.

Understanding how V-points are calculated and consumed in Vocol is key to making the most of this powerful platform. With a clear grasp of the process, you can confidently transcribe, analyze, and leverage insights from your conversations while efficiently managing your V-points.
